Earlier this month St Marys Cement presented its energy conversion project to the local community, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions at the Ciment McInnis plant in Port-Daniel.

The proposed project involves the gradual replacement of a portion of the petroleum coke currently used with low-carbon alternative fuels. The objective is to achieve an estimated 20% thermal substitution by 2030 and, over the longer term, up to 70%.

“This project represents an important step in reducing our plant’s carbon footprint. We want to advance this energy conversion while remaining responsive to the community and relying on solutions tailored to the realities of the region,” – Philippe Marceau, Director of operations at St Marys Cement, a Votorantim Cimentos Company.
