Canadian industry proposes five fixes to industrial carbon pricing

The Cement Association of Canada has sent a joint letter to Canada’s provincial ministers of the environment emphasizing industrial carbon markets as the most flexible and cost-effective way to incentivize industry to reduce emissions and providing 5 recommendations to fix industrial carbon pricing:

  1. Remove interprovincial trade barriers
  2. Create and align high-integrity offset protocols
  3. Make credit markets transparent
  4. Enhance revenue recycling
  5. Engage on measures at the border to support vulnerable sectors

CAC signed the letter alongside 12 leading industry association and firms from across Canada, including Alberta’s Industrial Heartland AssociationCanadian Manufacturers & Exporters, the Canadian Renewable Energy Association, the Canadian Steel Producers AssociationCarbon Removal Canada, the Chemistry Industry Association of CanadaClean ProsperityEnhance EnergyHeidelberg MaterialsKiwetinohk Energy, Itoa Energy, and Lafarge.
